Practice, Practice, Practice

Today practice started and I'm feeling pretty good about the choices we have made. The boys are really enjoying themselves.

Sunday Lunch

Stopping off at "Piston Cup" for some lunch and a cool hat. Claire loves it when we sit in the last booth. Everyone coming from the kitchen area or going to the restroom has to pass her. She yells "hey" to all and sundry. She still greets folks with a mouth full of lunch.

Wow

Did you see the size of that chicken.

TV and Tea

Life is good when I get in Daddy's chair with a cup of tea (pretend) and my shows.

Supper Time

Claire really gets into her food.

Ceiling Fan Memories

Laying in bed with the ceiling fan on I started to doze off to the ticking of the fan. I thought of late night games of pool, and alternately being kept awake and lulled to sleep by the fans on the porch at the lake.

Loyalty

We were just watching the teams come on the field for one of the conference championship games. Pearce jumped up and down and started to chant "Go Bulldogs."

The Boy and His First Mug

Nana bought Pearce his first mug. It of course is Lightning McQueen and Mater. The maiden voyage was full of chocolate milk and coffee. It's Sunday morning, of course there will be coffee.

Bubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble

Time to make the laundry detergent. Had a boil over this time, but I think all was saved. Half a bar of Fels Naptha (laundry aisle at the grocery, look for it it's there), 1/2 cup washing soda (not baking, your not baking the clothes), and a cup of borax. Grate the bar soap (you can actually use any bar you want) and put it in some boiling water until dissolved. Then put it in a 5 gal bucket half filled with hot water and the soda and borax. Fill the rest of the way with hot water and close up. Now set aside for 24 hours. After the 24 hours is up pour half of the detergent into another 5 gal bucket and fill both up and use.

Rainy Day in Georgia

Out running some errands. Dropping off a suit coat at the dry cleaners, and dropping by the vampires to unload some iron laden blood [and some goodies to "replenish" my blood sugar;)]

What a Week

What a week this has been! A sick baby girl, standardized writing test, sick Daddy, soccer conditioning, Super Mommy doing the work of three at work, half days, and special education meetings. WooHoo. All with the Amazing Pearce caring for us all. He earned a well deserved night off and he's spending it with his best girl, Nana.

Daddy's Little Girl

I Know a Pro Coach

Forgot to shout this from the mountain tops yesterday. My assistant coach's son was hired by the New York Red Bull organization as a coach. How cool is that.

Sitting on a Stool Watching TV

Pearce pulled this old lake stool out, crawled up and started watching Arthur.

Bring Back Memories?

Time to Compost

Claire actually got mad when I tried to carry her bucket for her. When Pearce went and got it from her to dump in the pile she was not pleased.

Saturday, January 14, 2012

The CX Entertainment

Pearce loved the bubbles and the "pumper" (piper).

One More Race

Conversation between Daddy and Pearce.
Daddy: "'Bout ready to go home?"
Pearce: "NOPE"

Saturday at the Races

Pearce cheering on an old teammate of mine from the NFC days. That's Todd in the white. Come to think of it he was on all the teams I rode for.

Aye Aye Matey

I'm ready to stand a watch on deck Daddy.

A Little Morning Craftiness

Pearce is making Daddy a bracelet because he doesn't have one.

Run, Run, Run

Had a down pour during practice. Took the show inside and showed the wrestlers how to run the halls. What a day. People still praying for snow tonight.

Happy Birthday Papa

Today, Papa would have been 98. Mom asked for a story about him. The memory that is always with me is of him leaning against the bar at the lake in his undershirt and slacks drinking coffee and telling stories. This would be early in the morning and I would be in a t-shirt and under-roos eating cereal on one of those round wooden stools.

Then there is always Papa hosing down the sidewalks. The choral concerts with the dachshunds float across my memory. Of course there is the splitter painted green and my drawing desk he made for me for Christmas.

Mornings Are Awesome

Pearce just pulled his chair over to Claire and say with her to have breakfast. I'm not sure if he gave her the hat or she appropriated it, but it sure is cute.

TV in Daddy's Chair

A rough day at school needs a little relaxing in Daddy's chair. It helps to wrap up in his shirt too.

Doing Some 4wheeling

Having fun while sister gets a bath.

Brotherly Love

We have Second Sunday Fellowship every second Sunday of the month. To the children it is universally known as "Cookie Sunday". Pearce loves it and likes to share that love with Claire.

Pearce the Contractor

Look at that screwdriver action. He's a pro.

Recycler

Pearce out helping Daddy with the recycling. It's just one of those Saturday things we do. Pearce and I go do the recycling and have ourselves an adventure before we go home. The recycling trip may end soon. Our trash pickup is about to add recycling to our service.

That's One For the Books

We have reached the end of the first week of 2012. Pearce has had an awesome week at school. I have called my children Clearce and Paire and I'm not even sure which child I was talking to. It was probably both simultaneously. I have also gotten sick and well in the space of 36 hours. Now, we are watching Jeopardy and getting ready to watch the Conspirator.

I'm Smart

I just realized today was jeans day at work.

This Baby is the Best Cuddle Bunny

And the Season Begins

The road to the tournament began today. 15 WMSE Wildcat hopefuls came out to find out what conditioning is all about today. There were a few that got their eyes opened. Then there were the regulars. Then I saw a few that have the potential to be standouts. It will be an interesting month seeing what shakes out.

The Boy Knows How to Wear a Hat

Pearce loves to wear these hats. Varsity or Piston Cup (Steak and Shake), it does not matter, Pearce puts on the dog with these hats.

Two Days Back

Spent two days back at school among the kids and guess what. Yep, you guessed it. I'm already ending sentences with prepositions. Also, with soccer conditioning starting tomorrow, I'm coming down with something. Maybe some frozen precipitation, or crystallized precip, would give me some recoup time.

We Are All Back At It

Pearce and Claire went back to school today. Kristi was back at work. The students at Woodland came back, a few missing and some new faces. A good day was had by all.

Monday, January 02, 2012

What a Day

It was a good day back at school. I actually got some work done; printed out some progress reports, rescheduled a meeting, remembered I haven't planned out any conditioning drills for soccer, and requested that one of the two dead lights in my office get replaced (don't want too much light). There are five lights in there. If four of the five work I'll will be happy and Derrick will live with it.

Well, I'm ready for the kids to come back. I didn't think I'd feel that way when we left, but now I feel ready to get to it.

Back at It

It's the second day of the new year and we're back at it. The school is quiet today. The kids will make up for that tomorrow.

Well Happy New Year Everybody

We started the new year off well today. The kids got me up at I don't know what time, but definitely before I was ready. We put on some Veggie Tales and had waffles, eggs and fruit bars. I had coffee and eggs/chili (huevos rancheros my way). Kristi had coffee.

We then (Kristi and I) cleaned house. Rather successfully with the kids awake. Pearce even helped, some. While cleaning we eased our way into starting dinner. Well, rewind, Kristi got up at 4 and turned on the Black-Eyed peas. Then I started the greens at ten. I use canned stuff but no one ever complains. I usually put hog jowls or bacon in but just used ham this time. It was good.

Reba and Regina came down. They fixed ribs and cornbread. Nana's ribs are pretty darn good. The cornbread is always great. Claire was pretty much done before we started good. She decided to eat a whole nother meal. We all left the table stuffed and the table was still stuffed.

I went for a walk and a nap. Regina and Kristi went to the store and the babies kept Nana occupied. All in all it was an awesome start to 2012.

Oh yeah the picture is not from today but it is a nice family picture for the start of the new year.
