Turkey Day

What a day! I got to tell Kristi Happy Birthday. We all enjoyed the smells of thanksgiving cooking. Green tomato gratin involves cooking bacon and sautéeing onions (not to mention melting cheddar) are some super awesome olfactory pleasures. Then there was the sweet potatoes, brown sugar, and pecans baking. Oh, wow.

Of course the obligatory road trip. Over the river twice (and the other river, and a lake) and through two or three woods to Aunt Becky's. Got to see all the Atlanta locals; Suzy, Becky, Randy, Pat, Sam, Mom, and Dad plus the Yankee (Kennedy). We enjoyed all the food and everyone set aside most of their dietary restrictions (ala sugar) to enjoy the fine food on hand. Randy's cranberry sauce was MOST awesome.

Rolling Out the New Machine

Pearce is moving on up. The wheels on this one are big enough to hit the dirt successfully. We'll try that one next.

She Belongs

> Thought y'all should know. She wouldn't eat the cake, but she demolished the icing from two pieces of caramel cake.

Finally Installing New Dishwasher

This is the before picture I never remember to make. Already surmounted my first obstacle. A bent side mount tab was keeping me from extricating the old washer. Un-Elkins like, I managed to solve the problem without breaking a thing.

Blueberry Frozen Yogurt...Yum!

First product of the ice cream attachment for the kitchen aid. I also made butter pecan ice cream and Kristi liked it. With the blueberry I suggest straining the blueberries before mixing in the yogurt.

Laundry Day

It's that time again. 1/2 cup of washing soda, 1 cup of borax, 1/2 bar of Fels Naptha, 2 - 5 gallon buckets, and a lot of hot water. Sadly though my little scullery made is not here to help out.

Yogurt, Yoghurt, Yoghourt!!!

Well, somebody left me alone with the Internet again! I was researching whether or not sugar negatively affected the live cultures in yogurt directly and stumbled on something.

I CAN MAKE YOGURT FROM COCONUT MILK!!!

I can also make it with soy milk, almond milk and peanut milk (not so sure about that last one, but one can dream).

Ritorna Mi Bialetti

Broke out the Bialetti this morning. Pearce loves the produce as much as his Daddy. Only two things would have made the morning coffee better. Real espresso roast in the Bialetti and a roof over the deck (or patio) to sit outside in the rain.

My Little Jedi Knights

Yard sales rock. Got the purple LS and a red one, too. Also got Pearce a present to give Claire Bear for her Bday. All for $4.

Claire Loves the Yogurt Pops

Claire threw a fit when I tried to tell her she would have to wait for them to thaw enough to get them out of the form. She loves these things.

Turkey Trot

This fella followed his cousins example and ran across the by-pass today.

A Kitchen Aid to Aid in the Kitchen

We got a new to us Kitchen Aid dishwasher today. We are so happy. It's so nice to have the conveniences of modern life.

Marley, Jacob Marley

That boy is his father's son.

Monstrous, Just Monstrous

Pearce and I went down to Roswell last weekend and this what he came back with. Pman got to hang out with Aunt Becky for a while Saturday. When we left Aunt Becky's after supper she gave him the boxes from some snacks. On was a matching game he got to cut out (with help). The other was a pair of of Monster's Inc. monster feet to be cut out and colored. The cool thing is you run your shoe strap through them to hold them on. Pearce loves them.

"He done WHAT in his cup?"

For the uninitiated, Piston Cup is what the Dynamic Duo call Steak and Shake. If you will observe the S&S logo on Claire's "cooking hat" it resembles Doc Hudson's and Lightning McQueen's trophy quite closely. Pearce dubbed S&S the Piston Cup around the 38th or 39th time he saw Cars.

All Hail the Spuds

We got to take a team picture today. Missed the photo shoot last week for some reason. This is Pearce's very first team. Pearce also got an awesome note from Coach Tori.

A little doodling before bedtime with a 24 year old picture. I'm the one on top with my head down.

What about this weather we're having. Anybody want some of our surplus water?

A Potential Rivalry

United v Arsenal. Oh, the places that can go. These are Rome's two clubs. Pearce is with North Georgia United. We got in for the inaugural season.

Five Feet High and Rising

These are pictures of the Coosa from 2nd Avenue (2 guard rails), 5th Avenue (1 guard rail), and Turner-McCall Boulevard (concrete guard rail). Pearce took the T-MB picture.

It's Friday ...

Claire had to put her "shell" on just like brother. (Tee-nagemunaninjaturdals shell).

and it's pizza day. Claire wanted Christmas Tree pepperonis, but all I could find small enough was the heart shape cookie cutter.

Little Blue Bonnet

I Had a Quilting Bee This Afternoon

Here are the designs I have come up with to make a quilt from all the soccer teams I've been affiliated with from Young Harris to now. Let me know which you like, because I like them all.

The logo and center panels will be 12"x12", the corner panels will be 6"x6", the side and end panels will be 12"x6".

Got My Dragon Hoodie

The coaches got me a hoodie for helping where I could. One of the coolest I've gotten yet. It is number 9 (a good number for a quilt). It should be 10 but I've misplaced a Rome hoodie. If I find the missing Rome hoodie I'll have to wait 6 more years for the quilt. Yep, I'm thinking a big square quilt. If I get a replica of my Young Harris hoodie made it will only be 5 more years. That is for a school soccer blanket.

New Tenants at 118 Keown

Well, I won't be burning the debris pile for another few weeks or so. These are the brown thrasher babies the kids and I found this afternoon. We were planting corn when the Mama started squawking sounding like a duck.
