The Heathens Have Left the Building

It is Fall Break and how happy are we. This is going to be a whirlwind weekend. Little big man is getting baptized this weekend. Kristi and I have now been married 2 years. It seems just like yesterday. We are taking alone time on Saturday; the last until soccer, and school is over at the earliest. That'll be six months from now. Everybody is excited about Pearce's baptism; the first baby born into the church in a few years. The lady that gives the baptismal gift won't be there on Sunday so the director of the bell choir jumped at the chance to give Pearce the gift and is running around telling every body that she gets to give him his present. It's a shame nobody loves this poor little boy. As always, pictures and video will be posted some time after the event.

Home Grown Highland Games

We had a fine old time at the Highland Games. It's a great way to celebrate the Scottish heritage of the Presbyterian Church. Throwing telephone poles, hay bales, and hammers is great. Showing off your knees is fun too. The Bonny (not boney) Knees contest was swept by the Elkins males. Pearce won, Uncle Randy came in second, and Daddy came in third.

The Boy's First Road Trip

Pearce got to experience the local attractions, both commercial and natural, of Pigeon Forge. To top it all off he got to try rice for the first time. Pearce hasn't decided whether he prefers to wear it or eat it. Updates on the rice later.

Road Trip

Life with a baby is always an adventure. Today we are going for the gold. We are going with Reba and Roy to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge for the weekend. Luckily, Pearce has started to develop a liking for his carseat (to the point of falling asleep). There will definitely be a post with pictures of super boy and the Smokies.

The Day is Near

Pearce Carter Elkins will be baptized on October 12, 2008 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rome, Georgia at the 10:55 service. If you want to check out the church take a look (I did the site).

Oh, by the way the week before on, Oct. 4-5, we are having the Kirkin' of the Tartans service and highland games.

Like Father ... Like Son

Glory Glory to Old Georgia

Do you think they can here the Battle Hymn of the Republic in Pasadena yet? Third place my butt.

And to those cyber friends out there that adhere to the other USC. Study hard for the final. It will be a dawg of an exam.

When it Rains it Pours

The stock market may crash. All the big investment banking firms may go belly up. But Pearce is still the cutest person on earth.

And More Ridiculously Cute Baby Pics

Well, here is a sampling of what I just downloaded from the card. There are over a hundred new pictures, and a few videos, too. I'll try to put a few up each weekend.

... and Now the Rest of the Story

here is something interesting about Palin.

Her squeaky-clean reputation for honesty and integrity has been ruffled a bit in recent weeks after she fired the commissioner of public safety. He claims he was pressured to fire a state trooper who used to be married to Palin's sister. That trooper apparently had made threats against Palin and her parents in the past, and he apparently once used a taser on his 10-year old stepson (Palin's nephew) in order to teach him some respect, and so on. Earlier internal investigations by the state police good-ol'-boy system (run by this commissioner) saw no reason to dismiss this trooper... hmmm... I think I would have tried to find a way to fire them both.

It is Sunday and the World Needs More Pearce Pictures

I am completely amazed at how cute this boy is and how many other parents are completely misguided in thinking that their children may possibly compare with Pearce. Cute thumb pictures are coming soon.

Pearce doing the Frogger

Pearce is into imitating amphibians. Somedays he's Turtle Boy and today he is just plain old Frogger. Look at those little bitty ol' frog legs.

Over the River and Through the Woods

We made it to Roswell for Pearce's first road trip (a few weeks ago). Everybody got to spend some time with superboy. Mom and Dad just called today and said that they were coming to visit Saturday whether we liked it or not. Well, Pearce has informed us that it is just fine with him so we had better like it.

Open House

Oh what a day. I have started life as a middle school teacher. Open House is tonight (well, has already started). It is going to be a new experience. They tell me that the parents actually come to this thing. That will be new coming from an inner city high school.

Raw Hide

Keep those doggies moving. We have been going non-stop since the middle of last week getting the move accomplished. We are still going 90 to nothing. After today we should be done with the abode in Calhoun. Pearce is taking it all in stride (especially since he got to spend the night at Nana's). The cat's are getting acclimated to the new digs. More about the move later.

Soccer Practice

Mommy got the soccer ball rattle out and Pearce was watching it so closely we (Pearce and I) decided to have a little practice session. With dribbling and juggling and heading.

Happy Day

I call the one on the right the Baby Jedi picture. That boy of ours is the cutest little booger out there. I thought I'd share with y'all.
By the way I finally got a job for next year. I'll be at Woodland Middle School teaching inclusion on the 8th grade level. I will also be the head boys soccer coach. That is a huge load off my mind. Our minds.

The Boy is Pretty Special

Pearce is 4 weeks old today. He is just the most awesome little dude ever. He'll be a month old on Saturday. Mom and Dad are adjusting to the new reality. Pearce went to the chiropractor on Wednesday and we are going back tomorrow.

We are also going to string some beans and pickle some cuc's and peppers tomorrow. I'll probably make another batch of zucchini relish and a few more zucchini fritatas. Roy has grown some huge zucchini at my instigation. Kristi has even made two batches of zucchini bread she might even be talked into another batch or two. How 'bout that loaf pan, cool huh.

North Avenue Trade School Lovin'

Pearce's love for his cousin Sam knows no bounds. He even uses the quilt Sam gave him (as a quilt even). Sam will do well with babies. He willingly took Pearce in his arms after I showed him how to hold him. Sam even willingly observed the changing of a stinky. Suzy needs to come back soon so she can get in on the lovin'. She lovingly didn't horn in on Sam's baby holding.
